WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND- Fact or Myth?
“We make a living by
what we get, but we make a life by what we give”- Winston Churchill
His name was Fleming, and he was a
poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he
heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to
the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming
and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could
have been a slow and terrifying death. The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up
to the Scotsman’s sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped
out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.
“I want to repay you”, said the nobleman. “You saved my son’s life.” “No, I
can’t accept payment for what I did,” the Scottish farmer replied waving off
the offer.
At that moment, the farmer’s own son
came to the door of the family hovel. “Is that your son?” the nobleman asked.
“Yes”, the farmer replied proudly. “I’ll make you a deal. Let me provide him
with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like
his father, he’ll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of. And that
he did. Farmer Fleming’s son attended the very best schools and in time
graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to
become known throughout the world as the notable
SIR ALEXANDER FLEMING who revolutionized medicine with the discovery of
PENICILLIN (the first true antibiotic). Years afterward, the same
nobleman’s son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this
time? PENICILLIN. The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son’s
name? Sir Winston Churchill, Great
Britain’s greatest 20th century statesman.
The Universal Law of Karma states
that “what goes around comes around”. Let’s all join hands together and
influence lives positively. Whoever we assist today may be of greater help to
our future generations and the nation someday. Keep the hope alive!!!

OUR LEGEND OF THE WEEK- DOLU IGE.
OUR LEGEND
OF THE WEEK
#1
She was just 23 when she died after a fearless battle with cancer, but
within that short span of her life, she had achieved what many could not even
if they attained the age of 100. She was an embodiment of brilliance, beauty
and impeccable look. She was such a great personality whose credibility
attracted young and old to her. Who was she?
She
was Modurodoluwa Iyanuoluwa Ige. Born on 18th October, 1989 as the 2nd child in a family of 3, Sisi Durodoluwa
Iyanuoluwa Mashadi (as she was fondly called by friends) grew up to become
what we can simply call “the joy of motherhood”. She was a no-nonsense and
admirable Health Prefect Girl with numerous ‘school daughters and sons’ during
her secondary school days. The press club of Gof International College, Osogbo,
where she graduated few years ago, will never forget her fashion-styled
presentations. She was an adept newscaster.
The 2010 Political Science graduate
of Redeemers University, Lagos State and an indigene of Ilesha in Osun State, will
forever be remembered as a dedicated member of the chapel's army of ushers. What
a God-fearing lady she was! The fashionable Dolu Ige completed her studies with
excellent grades and served her fatherland accordingly. The elegant lady
finally succumbed in her battle with Rectal Cancer on Sunday, 16th
of June, 2013. The hundreds of messages that flooded her Facebook page within
hours of her death were enough to speak for her. What a great loss for our dear
nation. “Modurodoluwa Ige, the cold hands
of death took you away from us. If tears could bring you back, we would gladly
cry to bring you back. All we can do now is to live our lives well by helping,
caring and loving one another. RIP Dolu”, one of her friends wrote on
Facebook.
Achievers
and great men world around agree that true success is measured by the amount of
lives they have affected positively and the magnitude of the effect they have
on those lives. Riches and Wealth will always come as a by product and will
also pass away with them, but their
impact will remain forever just like Ige Modurodoluwa.
Dolu Ige, we love you but God loves
you most, continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord where we shall meet to
part no more. Rest In Peace!

A NAME WRITTEN IN GOLD
The emergence of a GOLDEN NIGERIA is dependent on the
preparedness of the Nigerian youth for a better future i.e. the era of a quintessential egalitarian
society during which the common citizens will no longer wallow in the lonely
island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of wealth. If we can defy
today’s repression, remain steadfast in the face of ‘national cake’ syndrome
and stand tall for what is right, posterity would never forget us. We don’t
have to wait till we become the occupants of Aso Villa before we could make a
difference and therefore contribute our quota to the ‘archive’ of the
generation that will give birth to the golden nation. What is required is a
personality that exudes uprightness coupled with selfless service to humanity
in all spheres of life.
Our front-runners have failed
us countless times. They are meant to provide for us a better future, and
therefore write their names in gold. However, they have chosen the wrong path because
of their questionable voracity for wealth. They want to parade fleet of cars,
own houses and personal jets, wear the best of attires forgetting that all are
vanity. All these possessions become somebody else’s the day the ‘body’s engine
room’ finally shuts down. Isn’t it
adorable to write our names in gold rather than bury it in mud just because of
riches that can easily fade away? Our leaders have failed US- the
present generation. We must not fail THEM- the upcoming generations. Our
efforts to achieve the golden nation will forever be rewarded, even after our
departure from the mother earth. Names
like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, George Washington of America,
Mahatma Gandhi of India, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Obafemi Awolowo,
Chinua Achebe and Gani Fawehinmi of Nigeria have no doubt been written in the
purest form of gold that the world has ever churned out.
We will have to follow the
immortal advice of Mahatma Gandhi and be the change we wish to see in the
world. It will be a huge shame on US if
our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren still cry for the basic
amenities of life in their father land. KEEP THE HOPE ALIVE.
